The photos you see are taken by Society for Community Organization (SoCO) which was founded in 1972. These photos are startling and the apartments are from Hong Kong, the pictures are taken from above. Wide angle lens has been used in these photographs to dramatize the events. These apartments are indeed very small.

SoCO says, There are 100000 people living in inappropriate living spaces here such as cagehomes, bedspaces, cubicles, sub divided units, cocklofts and rooftop huts.

In Hong Kong, there are approximately 200000 applications of rental houses which has 350000 people and this is the statistics of June 2012.There are 93500 applications pending for Singleton approval whereas Hong Kong Govt. approves 2000 singletons per year.
